Go! Philantropic Safari {8 Days / 7 Nights}

"Travel and make a  difference"

This safari is recommended to travelers who want to enjoy the taste of Africa in style and at the same time touch the hearts of Kenyans. The safari enables the travelers to contribute to the reduction of the persistent problems facing marginalized locals; lack of access to safe drinking water, poverty and limited access to universal basic education.

This non- profit safari is organized by African Pro-poor Tourism Foundation (APTF) in collaboration with its Kenyan Chapter- African Pro-poor Tourism Development Center (APTDC) and African Authentic Safaris.  Below is the Detailed itinerary.

 Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Arrival at Nairobi airport on board your flight. Meet and greet service in Kenyan 'traditional style' welcome and escorted to Norfolk Hotel by our staff. This afternoon, you will visit a children’s orphanage where you will enjoy afternoon tea with these angels, some of who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS.  Overnight at Norfolk Hotel [Bed & Breakfast].
  
Day 2: Drive to Amboseli Game Reserve
Pick-up from your city hotel and depart for the Amboseli Game Reserve on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. En route visit one of the local primary schools which we support and   chat with the head teacher on the challenges faced. If school is in session you can talk with a few of the students. Enjoy your lunch in Namanga and proceed to Amboseli National Park where you will undertake an afternoon game-viewing drive with the photogenic snow-capped Mt Kilimanjaro in the background. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Serena Lodge. [Full Board]
  
Day 3: Full day in Amboseli Game Reserve
Early morning game-viewing drive returning for late breakfast. Spend remainder of the morning visiting local farmers who will share with you the challenges they face and some of the successes that they celebrate. Lunch is followed by another game-viewing drive. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Serena Lodge. [Full Board]
  
Day 4: Drive to Nairobi
After breakfast, lazy around as you wait for your departure for Nairobi to arrive in time for Lunch. En Route to Nairobi you will visit a local cobbler who will take you through the process of making a traditional shoe - “Jesus Shoe”. After the lesson you will be challenged to make your own shoe with the assistance of the cobbler and his assistants. Later the shoe will be given to you as a souvenir. Overnight at Norfolk Hotel [Bed & Breakfast].

Day 5: Drive to Lake Nakuru
After an early breakfast descend down the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru, home to millions of flamingos and more recently leopards, black rhino and white rhino. After lunch proceed on a game-viewing drive returning for dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill [Full Board].

Day 6: Drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast depart for the famed and Kenya’s finest game reserve - Maasai Mara Game Reserve to arrive in time for lunch. Late afternoon proceed on a game-viewing drive returning for dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge [Full Board].
   
Day 7: Full day in Masai Mara Game Reserve
Early breakfast is followed by an exciting full morning's game-viewing drive including a visit to Mara River to view the hippos. Lunch is followed by an afternoon visit to a local curio workshop where you will enjoy buying curios as they roll from Maasai women’s hands. Optional hot air balloon ride available on request and at an extra cost. Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge [Full Board].
   
Day 8: Drive Back To Nairobi and Depart
After breakfast, say 'Kwaheri' - a Swahili word for goodbye to Masai Mara and leisurely drive back to Nairobi, arriving around mid-day. Day rooms have been reserved until 1800 hrs for your comfort. Before departure you will have a chat your travel manager on how your safari was and have a chance to pledge a contribution towards supporting marginalized communities. You will also be awarded with a certificate to show that you traveled responsibly.  Later we transfer you to the airport for your home bound departure flight, having seen Kenya probably for the first time!
